maybe do an upgrade for alliance play
at this point it's all about working together as a team, but for the rest there are no real benefits for being in an alliance
a simple benefit would be to add up the research that is in 1 alliance, and give a part of it as an extra boost;
but this is probably not very clear :)
my english sucks so bad that I'll try to explain it this way :
3 players in alliance

1 has 200 attack
1 has 100 attack and 100 def
1 has 150 arrack and 50 def

adding up, attack in the alliance is 450, defense 150
a benefit could be to give 1 percent or more of the total research in an alliance as an extra benefit for all the players inside the alliance
with 1% benefit you'd have 4.5% extra attack and 1.5% extra def

this is only with 3 people in this example, but imagine an alliance of 10 players, this would definitely be important ...
for the game it would definitely help to have more people playing
alliance play would be important again, so people will do an effort to get 10 people inside their alliance ...
inviting friends etc
and new players would be invited/attracted to the community a lot faster this way,
so they won't leave that fast
because let's be honest, this game isn't that exciting without a good team fight :)

Interesting suggestion. You are only talking about Standard or every game ?

I don't know how easy that is to implement. I will send your idea to coder and ask to see how hard it would be to make that change.

My only reservation would be it would be an even bigger disadvantage to players who don't like alliances or just like to play alone. Which is majority of Blitz players and almost 100% of Test players.

I like the idea of giving Oficial Alliances actual bonuses. It would make sense in "Medieval War". I think Alliance play was meant for it. I would match it with a few things though. Like make it so if you leave an alliance you suffer some kind of penalty. Just for starter I would make it a global 10% penalty for maybe the next 12 hours, as in -10% defense/attack and -10% to all production. I would make it so you can trade goods to alliance members for free. Also I could go farther and activate bonus/penalties when at war with another alliance.

How much work do you think it would be ? This a simple fix or something that is long and drawn out ? Preferably I would eventually like to move some of the civilizations you have in Epic Warfare to Empire Builder and Medieval War.

I could do the extra civs in a couple hours max. The hardest part about that is making sure what is changed is added in the attacking files. As for the alliance bonuses, I think the hardest part about that is just conceptualizing how I want to implement it. Just give me the go ahead and I will add those two things to top of my list.

As far as Blitz and Test, you have access to do whatever coding you want to do. Whenever you please. I have told you I don't care what you do. (That is why you have access ) :) As far as Standard, if you guys think it isn't going to make it too hard to play solo , I don't care about that either. Whatever you want to do.

As far as civilizations, I have no idea which civilizations would be too overpowering for original civilizations since I don't play Test and really never have. 1500 turns is a different animal. I just replied because the post looked lonely.

More conversations that can help the game is better and me staying out of code talk is an even better idea. I am not doing any of the work so whichever ideas you like you are free to make any changes you want since you are one who is doing work.

If you need access to standard just email me and I will send you the link or email the other guy if you have his email and just ask him for access to Standard .

I think it would be good for the game.
As a solo player it would suck hard having an alliance fed Chin, not only coming at me full swords/wine, but with the bonus of 9 other players rls as well.

Obviously the issue right now with alliance play is that there really is no point, as you are landlocked which is a massive disadvantage.

I can understand the suggestion, and see the merits, but feel that a supply/demand PM, with alliance bonus price dictating not only that the goods you are buying are from your alliance, but economic benefits to do so.

Yes, a strong alliance should beat a solo player in theory, but as that solo player, would hate to see attack/defense bonus going to that alliance too.

Can we try and get the PM right and economic benefits first and see how that goes before worrying about this?
